Netflix review: Hollywood - Puti Manira

Hollywood is American series set in the 50s or 60s after The World War II by showing the life of a new actress and actor in Hollywood, Los Angeles. Story begins with Jack Castello (David Corenswet), an ex veteran who just got married and will have a baby. He is very confident because he has a very handsome look so he thinks he will get a gig in acting very soon. Apparently, it is not as easy as he thought. One day he meets Ernie (Dylan McDermott), a businessman who runs a gas station. But it is not just regular gas station, it is prostitutions behind, Jack should be an escort for mostly old ladies who get lonely. But that is the key to success becoming an actor, one of the ladies who is a wife from a famous studio in Hollywood, Ace Studio. Jack gets the role to play an actor in a movie that will change Hollywood industries in that time.

Why? The movie is leading by black actress named Camille (Laura Harrier) and the script is also written by black man who is also gay. In that time racist is the main problem, people will protest if something involves racist. However the movie is a success and finally gets the Oscar and mostly the actor and actress get the award.

The other interesting thing about this series is about the characters. For example, Vivien Leigh is the real actress from a movie, Gone with the wind, Rock Hudson (the actor was actually gay and died because of AIDS),l Hattie McDaniel (the first black actress who won OSCAR, also played in Gone with the Wind), Anna May Wong (first Chinese actress in Hollywood), Henry Wilson (manipulative agent who is gay), and others.

The movie is also set with a background in the real Hollywood behind the scene movie, with great dialogue like an old movie, the costume, hair do and everything looks great.
